I'm digging this one.

Only thing is the reverb you using (too much on the kick). This track has a backroom fell to it from the sounds but the reverb used seems to be more like a hall or something. Too wet and deep. A warmer roomy effect might be better. Track just make me think of a the pool hall hustling. Kinda like Dead Presidents... That cat with the one leg.

Keep it coming.

Shit I got a question for ya. Check your PM.

Peace.

Yeah the I am getting alot of feedback about the kick.... It might be the reverb that is on it...... Thanks for the props kid....

That ish is funny I just saw Dead Prez the two nights ago for the first time... Hot movie....

Peace

Raticus,

First of all, you have a picture that appears to be the Akai S2000. Do you use that sampler? Let me know, we may be able to share programs and samples.

Tried to listen to the track, but for some reason it wouldn't open. Media Player opens fine but then just sits there at connecting. I'll try again later.

Quick question for you, when you sell exclusive rights to your beats what are you charging? I've been selling tracks anywhere from $150 - 350, but these are non-exclusive deals. Just wondering how other cats are doing it.

PS. I tried to listen again later and got a messsage that redirection could not be processed??? I'll try tomorrow.

Raticus,

Now I got it. Crazy intro, I'm feeling that. I'm not sure how to describe the intrument, almost like a log drum or something, but it's giving me this Axel F (from Beverly Hills Cop) vibe. I like that though. Nice hard drums as usual, they sound like they're coming through a sampler. Could that be the S2000? Let me know. Nice track.

Has a GO-GO feel to it. it reminds me of the Groove theory tell me GO-GO remix. Keep it up it sounds good. hit me on AIM at SZOUNDBOY:D

Stray thanks for taking the time as usual.....

LOL Axel Foley....

Yes that is an S2000.... I currently just use it for the main samples... No drums or percussion run on the S2000..... I run my drum sounds through sample cell....

Exclusive rights is $250.00 and up depending on how serious you are about your project.....The more expense the more I will get involved with actually producing the record.....

Non exclusive is $25.00 for a lease or purchase of the CD it resides on........

Thanks for the props.....

Soundboy....

This is definely a weird track......
Oh thats you AIM.... I got it know....
Thanks for taking the time....

Raticus,

Thanks for the info man. You're running your main samples through, the S2000 huh? Never tried that, I've been told these units are only good for drum sounds, but come to think of it the sampler does sample at 16 bit so it should be sufficient for other instruments as well. I'm going to try that.

Also thanks for outlining what you charge. Like I said, I usually set deals up on a non-exclusive basis, but I've been asked about exclusive rights so I just want to get as much info as possible before I come up with a price.

BTW, do you use MESA software for the S2000? If not, I suggest you look into it if you haven't already. You need a SCSI card to set up the chain, but they're real cheap. Once you have MESA you can edit your samples on the PC and then transfer them back to the S2000. Bomb way to work, I don't know how I ever did without it. You can find the software at Akai's website, it's free.

Thanks,

Stray

No doubt glad I can assist.....

yeah I been using MESA for about 5 years now..... I basically don't work with the S2000 with out it.... My only gripe is that it only works on Win 98.......They don't plan to upgrade either.....

later kidco....
