The chorus works really well though I'b bring the bvox down a little at the beginning of it - they're fine for the rest.
The dirtier guitar pushes this along.
Good work fellas.

You guys have a great sound going, I'm digging it quite a bit. Another good song here. Those chorus vocals just impress me, the backup singer sounds like the guy from TV On The Radio. Very well performed on all instruments.

My only comment on the mix itself would be that the 2 guitars kind of mush together a bit, like there's a little too much frequency overlap between the two of them. Maybe take a little EQ bite out of the rhythm guitar somewhere to make a little more room for the lead?

Thanks Rayc and Tadpui....I'll moderate those BG vocals - first chorus seems to be the problem area to me. The other choruses they seem to slip under okay...correct? I'll have a look at the eq on the guitars, maybe I kind find a pocket for the lead.

Cool song. Backing vocals are great. Again like your other tune I think the main vocal level is uneven. The overall level is generally fine. It's just that in certain places some words poke out and others disappear. I'd like to hear more compression on the vocal. Lots of it

OK thanks - this one I know we are using the default on the vocal compressor (say 40 gain and 50 compress) so even less than the other song. As with the other, some more compression and/or automation appears to be in order....

You guys always sound tight as fk. The vocals sound really smooth. A little dry for my personal taste but heck ya man. Solid Jam.

I know Jason is a great drummer, but his drums always sound small and distant in your mixes. I'd like for them to pop more. Guitars and vocals are smooth as always. Bass rumbling nicely. The backups in the chorus don't work for me. I think they sound kind of messy.

Thank Atom and Greg: We usually drop the drums from Jason as is into the mix so maybe more volume or something? The messy backups are supposed to be arranged like that but perhaps we can remix them so that the backups are a little less prominent and more backups. Right now the several voices are the same volume - I'll discuss it with Mike when we get together next.

Brand New Emotion
Did a little bit of work on this again based on comments. This should incorporate all the changes suggested. Let us know if this needs anything else ...... Thanks!
Same link - here for convenience...

I still like this song a lot, and it's progressing nicely.

I think that you can cut a little bit of low end out of the lead vocal without neutering it, that will make a little room for all of the other things going on. I wouldn't mind hearing just a little bit of reverb on the vocals and the lead guitar, just to set them amongst everything. Not much, just a little.

The drums are a little in the background still. I'm not sure what to suggest there, other than bringing up at least the kick and the snare if you have them on their own tracks. Like Greg said, there's a little "pop" missing there.

The bass definitely sounds great, and I'm still a big fan of the vocals (both lead and backing). That band is just awesome.

The guitar certainly is snarling nicely.
This seems like a pretty cool mix - I don't know how to make snares pop so won't even suggest it.
How did you end up treating the bass? Whatever you did worked!
I like the bvox.

Hi Gerry, nice to hear some new stuff! Sounds great, nice and tight! Backing vocals could be 2db louder. Guitar solos are nice and tasty. Bass sounds good, it might sound better if there was even more walking bass throughout, it adds a lot to the tune when the bass line is moving. Really nice production.

Thanks tadpui, ray and David for the listen/comments. We used a different bass guitar this time as we noticed there was a lot of noise on the track that was there originally (bad cord or something). Drums are stereo track so we'll have to see if we can eq the drums a little.

In general it sounded good. Tight performances. Well balanced levels, except I'd like more snare and lead guitar. Just a bit.

Little pop at :37. Right after "...could be real..."

I think I'd like a little more upper midrange from the rhythm guitars.
