how do you get multi tracks from a zip disk on a br-8 to your computer to master it? please can u give me some steps?

Go to Boss website and download the br-8 wave converter. It's free. Then load your zip drive to it. It creates wave files for each track. Then get a cakewalk hom studio program and download the tracks to it. You can use the v-tracks as more tracks and you can have as many tracks to mix as you cakewalk program will allow. If you want to make cd's make sure you get the deluxe versions. I have Magix studio 7 deluxe.

Your going to need an external Zip drive to do it.
They are cheap on ebay. The biggest benefit of going this route is you are no longer held back by the zip space. If you use a software program you can continously add more tracks to it. Each time you add you can render it down to a stereo WAV and use the roland convertor to change it back to a BR8 file. pop it in and you have 6 empty tracks! You can do it as many times as you like! I have done tunes with 35 tracks already.
There is a BIG learning curve when making the jump to software. The more you learn about it, the less you'll do in the BR8. I use mine to bring the tracks to the computer raw. I do all mixing, and sound adjustments with the software. I use Acid Pro 4.0, but there are many good programs out there. You can try N-tracks for free at www.fasoft.com
Its a good program that supports DX plugin effects, and will give you a good feel for how to do it.
Try it and then shop for something that works for you.

That zip space sure is a b1tch. But if you're not PC inclined, don't forget to go in and delete your empty tracks after a bounce. Optimize the song, and you'll get the time back for those tracks, although you probably already knew that.
Has anyone tried 200mb zips on the BR-8. Does it give you double the time?
Oh, and one more thing - retail is for suckers. Never buy your zips at Radio Shack. Zipstorage.com (not sure if they're still around) has a pretty sweet deal, but the cheapest I've ever gotten them was off ebay.

Yes, I did the 250MB conversion with no problems. You'll have 35mins of recording time if using all 8 tks. I either mixdown to minidisc or direct to my computer, I have a USB soundcard the IMic from www.griffintechnology.com.

I read your post concerning the use of a 250Mb zip-disk on a Boss BR8.
Do I understand correctly: You place a 250 Mb zip into the slot of the BR8 and you get the 35 minutes total for all 8 tracks? I don't understand? The manual explicitely states that ONLY a 100 Mb zip will work! Or did you replace the internal zip-drive from the BR8 itself?

Yes, a internal 250MB ZIP drive can be fitted in the BR-8, check this link http://www.olywa.net/blame/mwn/br8-250.htm. When the BR-8 first came out, the 250MB weren't out yet.
