Working on a song today--recording my Breedlove for the first time.
I had my guitar part down, added two vocal tracks, and a harmonica track.
Went to trim 3 seconds of lead-in off the front and wound up erasing a full day's work.
I forgot my basic rule of recording--always back up after finishing each track.

But at least I know the Breedlove sounds great on recording. It has a really nice percussive snap to it--sort of reminiscent of the thing Neil Young had going on the LP Harvest.
Heavy sigh....

Once I took my 8 track to record a gig and ran all the sound through it. Everything worked great.

Except for power, I plugged it into the power conditioner on my bass rig, and when we took a break, I powered off my whole rig... and... the entire set was lost. No do-overs on a live performance. Everyone was bummed out and it was my fault. :(

Are you sure you actually lost it?? If you use a DAW app like Cubase, the original wav file might still be on your hard drive. When you edit in a DAW, you don't actually change the original wav file. If you're using something else, then sorry to hear about the loss.

Unfortunately, I'm not recording to a computer--I'm recording to a Zoom SIAB and it does not have an auto save function.
The plus side to the experience is that now I'm challenged to go back and do it again and hopefully better.
And I have a large stockpile of blank CDs to store hard copies on for back-up.

Yeah, I got those kind of stories, too...

Set up at my church, recorded the whole service (setup was to bring audio to a remote seating area outside) and my helper (or was it the other way 'round?) used a computer UPS as our power source. At the very end of the service, I signaled for him to crack the volume- and it tripped the circuit breaker, causing the recorder to shut down (it does not auto save.)

Oh, well...

Interesting. My SIAB (a Roland VS1824CD) has an "undo" function that would recover the missing data and undo the entire errant operation, as long as I didn't "Optomize" the song, which erases all previous takes to clear disc space. In fact, I could "undo" at least the last 3 operations, whatever they were. Sorry you lost the track, but at least it was your own. Like the other folks above, I have lost *other people's* stuff, which really sucks.-Richie

If there is an undo function for the Zoom, I have not found out how to accomplish it in the manual....
But as I noted earlier, now I'm challenged to go back and do it over only (hopefully) better.
