Bowed saw

Anyone with experience recording this? I'm learning to play, and would like to know the optimal type of mic and placement. I'm trying a SDC 6 inches or so off the upper face of the mid saw, which is where I expect the max volume but not possibly the sweetest tone.

I know I'm going to have to figure this out through trial and error, but just wondered if anyone has experience with it to give some pointers. I don't have any ribbon mics, so that's not an option.

I'd pull the mic back at least as far away as the longest dimension of the vibrating surface. About 18" or so might be a good starting point.
