Many thanks incidentally to the peeps on this forum for helping me decide!
First thing to say is IT ROCKS!
It really does...but only with the bundled Cubase LE it came with.
This is fine, but I would really love to be able to use it as the overall soundcard for everything on my computer - Adobe Audition (1.5), iTunes, Windows Media Player, etc.. Mainly for A/B-ing stuff, but also to avoid the pain of rewiring every time I just want to listen to mp3s or watch a video.
I've tried setting the output in Audition to the FW-1804 (which IS recognized), but the sound still comes out my laptop speakers.
Bizarrely, Windows Media DOES play through the 1804, but only out of the left channel! Tested the cables and everything - it seems to be squashing both L&R into L!!
I'm continuing my research, but can anyone shed any light? Are there drivers that help the 1804 recognize the other audio players? Or is that hoping for too simple a solution?
