Hi i was just wondering if anyone can give me advice on whether or not its worth buying the BOSS RCL-10. I would mainly use it as just a noise gate and slight compression. I can pick one up pretty cheap but i couldnt really find out all the specs on the internet. All i got was this review.
"The Boss RCL-10 is a 1/2 space, standard size unit. This is a mono effect, but a jack can provide a to link a pair of units for stereo. A single Boss power supply can power up to 8 of these units using "link" cables (M-M barrel connectors). This unit has three effects built into it, Compression, Limiter/Expander, and a noise gate. The compression sounds more natural than just about anything I've heard. It will sustain for days! It has less of a "poppy" sound than most other compressors, but this can be achieved via the attack knob. Put this in front of a good distortion pedal, and you have instant Santana sustain. The Limiter works great, does exactly what it's supposed to. Great for home recording. The Noise Gate works great, very easy to get it to do exactly what you want it to."

I cant find anything on how many ins/outs it has and if they are xlr or jack? Can someone help me please. thanks.

I can't speak specifically about the RCL-10. I have the RCE-10, which is a Chorus Ensemble - part of that same line of 1/2 rack effects they put out in the late 80s and early 90s and it sounds beautiful, and the quality is great.

thanks alot. cause i cant afford a whole rack at the moment and for recording purposes i dont have a multitrack i just have a multitrack software (so for example i cant record drums with one track for each drums the whole thing goes into one track) Would this work if i took the outs from the mixer into the boss rcl-10 and then out into a computer? also how am i able to make it stereo as from what i gather it is only mono,
thankyou

I have the CL-50 'Pro' half-rack compressor - perhaps a relation of the RCL-10 - which has been a very functional unit. The lack of any dial indications (on either of them) is a pain if you want to get somewhere fast, but they've been consistently solid performers.
