Boss DS 1, help me choose one

Hello, I like the way Petrucci, Steve Vai, Van Halen plays, so I wanted to get a modded DS-1 pedal to get as close as possible, I'm not considering multieffects, just this one pedal. Is the Keeley mod good? I've heard there are other mods but have no idea. My pickups are D-Sonic and Air Norton.

And even some songs here, maybe you can tell me better:

I have a DS-1 that I've tried several different mods on. It always ended up sounding like ass because it's just turd polishing. The only way to get Petrucci, Steve Vai, Van Halen types of tones is with a cranked up tube amp.

Keeley mods are great. There are professional guitarists who play with keeley mods.

That's all you need. Someone like Vai would sound like himself through anything.

But it's easier to buy good equipment and think that you'll sound like Vai. (But you won't)

I found a cheap Danelectro distortion pedal I had (a red one), sounded better than the Boss DS1- the Danelectro had more body to the tone. It also depends on amps, guitars, other FX pedals..and you!
