 I've got A Boss DR770 Drum Machine that the LED is busted on. The thing works fine other than you can't see the commands & settings on the display. I was wondering if anyone knew of A way to MIDI through my computer soundcard and get the interface of the DR770 to show on my computer monitor, or any other way that I might be able to use this drum machine. (I have no experience with MIDI) Thanks

With the screen being toast, the only thing you will really be able to do is to start/stop the sequencer or trigger the sounds with midi. Have you looked at getting it fixed?

Well, I have not looked at getting it fixed. I figure it would cost more than the thing is worth, I don't have probably 25 dollars in it. I know that you could get (with Sonar) Studioware panels for some things, but I wasn't sure about The Boss. :o

Two words:

Planned obsolescence.

Musical products are only slightly better made that the average coffe maker or microwave oven and made to take only slightly more abuse.

Here's my take --- If that drum machine is in good shape with a dead display you should be able to fire the current kit's drum sounds from any midi keyboard, providing you are willing to do some casting around to find the channel that the drum machine is recieving on. Start with ch. 10 and you may get lucky right off the bat...
