How can I get my music from my DR5 to my Laptop? I bought the Roland USB connector w/software and nothing happened. Am I missing something? I have the basic setup... Magix Music and Video maker software on my laptop but so far nothing has happened. If you can, email me at hardycr@cowpens.navy.mil. Sometimes I can't get to the net. You know... the military is ON CALL to help defend our country so my life has gotten a lot more hectic. I'd really appreciate your advise so I can stay busy when I'm out to sea! Thanks in advance.

Your DR-5 outputs music (a sound signal). You will have to connect it to the input of a sound card in your computer. Then it can be saved as a WAV file, altered, mixed and resaved if needed.

Yeah but what about the MIDI output? What is that for? I bought a USB-MIDI connector, so I thought that was all I needed. Thanks for the reply.

The MIDI cable is made so that you can connect a MIDI device such as a sequencer or have the DR-5 control a MIDI program that you would have on your computer. You can now dump (backup) any kits or songs that you would create using the DR-5 but was far getting drums sound recorded to your computer all you needed was a stereo y-patch cord with 2 male RCA (to the output of the DR-5 to a 1/8 mini stereo (to line-in of your soundcard) and use whatever computer based recorder program to record the drum tracks to your computer.
