Strange person.
How does the Boss CL-50 compresor rate compared to the behringer autocom line? There's a pair of them on eBay.com.au less than half the price of an autocom MDX1600.

Would it be a step up, down or sideways?

This is what I've found about them so far fro this link http://recforums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/m/5274/0#msg_5274

"The Boss CL50 compressor is also a virtual carbon copy of a DBX 160X, with DBX parts and even a circuit layout similar to DBX. Apparently DBX licensed its design to Boss. The Boss unit can be had for $100 or so, the DBX 160X (which I like very much) still gets $200-$400 for the same technologically designed unit. Yes, I have used them both and they sound the same."

I never visit that forum so I thought I'd check here before I made a purchace.

I doubt it would be good for DBX's business if they did hand over a schematic to roland and allowed them to multiply as there is a DBX model out there i think it's the 266XL mabye, which is of the 160 family (but is supposedly not that good). I have the 166XL - its a great workhorse, i'd say its anything but transparent though (which i like). Presonus and joe meek produce good low end comps.

i don't thnk you can compare the two. While the boss may react similar to the dbx , it does have a higher noise floor and tends to smear the audio significantly.
