Hey all. Thanks in advance for any help. I own the BR1600 (box says version 2) and I was wondering if I can link it to a second recorder to gain more channels for recording. I've done some decent demos in the past within the limits of the recorder, but now I'm working on a project that has a few more instruments involved and I'm trying to figure out how I can pull it off. A friend has a Roland digital recorder I can use, but I need to know if I can "combine" them to make basically make a "32 track" recorder so to speak. The budget is $0, so this is the only way we can make things happen!! LOL
Thanks again for any help provided.

Jeff

It's listed as "midi slave capable for control from external devices". I can't say for sure w/o manuals and such, but this would indicate that it MIGHT since to MTC (midi time code) so....
if your buddy's other recorder can spit out MTC, you might be able to get your unit to sync to it and "chase" it as you play/stop, etc. You'd just need a midi cable and dig into the menus to get one to spit it out and the other to sync to it.

Hope this helps at all!

Hey thanks Brian. I'll have to check on the MIDI thing. Not sure what other options are out there.

I doubt it but worth a try. I know Roland own Boss, but I suspect the two recorders won't play nice. Good luck.

It can be painful, but you always have the option of bouncing groups of tracks to a stereo pair to free up more on your 16 track. I do it occasionally on mine if I need a few more. Costs $0, just takes time.

The Boss BR1600 has virtual tracks, right? Unless you are trying to record 32 tracks simultaneously, you record onto the virtual tracks and bounce some down to a stereo pair, then remix with those and the rest of the tracks ...

Sync is the name of the game

View attachment 74382View attachment 74382Brian is correct in his diagnosis. The key is to get it to sync. Here is my Br-1600 cd/v2, linked to my Tascam SX1.Hope this gives you a bit more confidence in the evaluation of sync correction.I will try and photo the rear,it will explain the connections to make. Better than explaining grammatically.

Considering the original poster hasn't come back here since March, your answer would seem to be wasted!

Cheers Mike, I must be more observant regarding time lines.PS. I enjoyed the Beatle ensemble.Shared the same bill with them way back, before they made it.The gig was at Hulme Hall,an area known as Port Sunlight on Merseyside UK.It was Starkies,(Ringo Starr) first gig.Our outfit was a nine piece, called The Saxons......There you go,a piece of useless information.Regards,John Sullivan
