I don't really know where to ask this wquestion so I'll try over here.

I'm planning on getting a dedicated digital recorder soon (PC recording isn;t my thing) and I'm debating between those two units.

Can you help me to make an opinion.

The basic of what I'm looking for:

24 bits converters.
NO compression.
44.1 Khz sampling rate.
Ease of use.
Good Eq.
Good effects.

The recording sound quality as important is I primarily record acoustic guitars.

I know that the specs are very similar, so I guess it all comes down to which one sounds the best and offers the most features.

Thanks for the help.

G.Boerlyle,

I have not directly compared the two units you are considering, but I have been very happy with my MRS-1044. I play more electric than acoustic (the MRS has some pretty nice Fx and modeling built in for direct-in electric recording), but I have recorded an acoustic on several occasions with results that I found good.

The only potential disadvantage of the MRS that I can think of is that it only has 2 band parametric EQ, rather that the 3 band that costlier units have. This may be outweighed by the facts that the price is right, the FX and mastering algorithms are way cool and the drums are on board.
