Boss Br-1180 Drums

Hey, Can anyone tell me what Boss drum machine the Br-1180 drums were modeled after, if any? The reason I ask is I have an 1180cd and find the drums to be very easy to program. I'm trying to help my brother find a drum machine that's user friendly, like the 1180. I'm open to any ideas if anyone knows of other good machines.
 
I haven't gotten around to trying the BR1180 drums yet, but I would imagine they would be based on something like the Boss SR-16 drum machine. It has a bunch of "factory" programs that you can use for simple recording. They are basically 1-button operation. Programming is a bit more complicated, but isn't really over-complicated.
 
Check out the DR Rythm machines on the rolandus.com website they're even easier to control and sound just as good if not better.
