Hi all,
I've just inherited a bose sounddock with a erratic volume issue and I'm having difficulty figuring it out.
If you power it on and play some music it may be fine for some time, but after a while the volume will rise to maximum in a few seconds, as if you held the button.
You can also instigate this by tapping either of the volume buttons once.
If you hold either of them, the volume will remain at the same level, but once you let go it will rise very quickly.
There are three boards.
Two ribbons in total going between the boards; I've tested them point by point for continuity.
I've reversed orientation of the two ribbon cables that go between and this changed nothing. (They're straight 1-1, 2-2 etc)
I've disconnected the IR sensor and that does nothing. (I don't have a remote at the minute).
The switches themselves are not broken. I've tested them with a meter.
Any thoughts?
I suspect the issue is with the main board because I fired it up, tapped the volume-down button then immediately pulled the ribbon for the ipod docking board.
I waited a second then reconnected and the volume was blasting, so the volume continued to rise without the docking board connected.
Also, the whole docking board was replaced recently as a child grabbed a docked ipod and ripped it out, connector and all!
Thanks in advance.

- The docking board (has volume up/down buttons)
- Main board
- Amplifier board.
