Rory and his unborn fetus were my inspiration to knock this bitch out real quick. The Springsteen concert didn't induce labor, so Rory, put your monitors on each side of your wife's belly and crank my version. Hopefully it will jar the baby loose. :D

Any comments/critiques are welcome and appreciated. :D

And thanks Dwillis for the cool picture. :p

So, according to your story, the chorus should actually sound like:
"RUN! we need the baby to be born!"

Fucking great! Some parts sounds like if Rancid was the one playing. One thing I would do is give more click to the kick so it has more attack. Great job as always.

One can only hope that Bwooce plays it with this much energy & added speed when he does it live.
The surf trem licks are a novel addition.
I wouldn't add more click to the kick - more thud maybe but not more click.
This demonstrates how much of a good song it was/is/will remain.

Thanks a lot. I'm not into clicky kicks, but I'll give it a look.

Thanks Ray. I'm not really a fan of Springsteen, but this song is great.

Sounds real good greg. I'm not into the boss at all so this is certainly more fun for me than the original. you took more liberties with this cover which is cool. i too like the 2-note sort of surf like guitar part, but wish it continued through the start of the next verse, but maybe you were using that to simulate an actual part of his arrangement and that is just how the song goes?

the beginning of the guitar solo sounds almost scottish...reminds me of the band from the '80's that had the video with them riding atvs all over scotland...forget the name...

Did you do something different with the vocals on this? they sound almost drier than usual...i think you like pretty dry vocals, but while the levels are all good, i almost get a sense that they sound a little too separated from the instruments tone wise...maybe soften them a bit to take the edge off?

Anyway, i'm just fishing at this point...trying to come up with something other than "good job man". btw - good job man.

Thanks for the comments. Yeah the vocals are considerable drier than I usually do. There's just a hint of delay on them. I wanted this one to be clean and punchy, so I used very little reverb anywhere. I kind of like the dry vocals. :D

too good:D
Bruce can only dream about rocking so hard with the PEE Street Band.

this is great Greg L!

I love this. Very full sound on the recording to me. You taking every instrument on this?

Awesome energy. Great! No more click on the kick. We must remind ourselves, although bruce springsteen is wild, he is still not metal core.

Sounds better than the real recording...:)

Thanks a lot guys. Yes I play all the instruments.

What can I say that hasn't already been said?

The Master of Covers doing what he does best.... :D

Well, since I haven't critiqued over here in awhile, I'll give you my honest. That damn drum machine from hell has got to go. It is a little too obvious of a software plug. Other than that, everything else sounded great:p

Oh yeah, who's tracking vocals? Needs more reverb. Too "in your face" relative to the rest of the mix, but great vocals nonetheless, just underprocessed or over-recorded (read: in a booth with too much treatment or a mix with not enough 'ambience') in this case.

Okay thanks. The vocals are indeed very dry - just a hint of delay. Actually nothing in this mix has any reverb added except for the clean guitar during the second part of the verses. I'll wet em some and see how it sounds. I kinda like the super dry vocals though. :o

And them drums are real! :D

I know that, silly, and you know I'm just lookin' for your good drum loving. Fuckin' ham.

That's a completely kick-ass version. REVERB, and a touch of delay, in the vocals. Some vocals are better dry. Not circa 70s Boss, even if it is a new incarnation. Fucking rocks, btw you bastard.:):):)

Lol thanks. I know you know they're real, but I don't want some noob strolling in here thinking I'm a sample pirate. :p

I'll play with the vocals tomorrow and see how they sound wetter.

Yeah it does sound a bit like the Stuart Adamson guitar solo :D

The vocals don't need to be wetter, they need to be thicker. I would double and throw your meatiest compressor at them.

Lol @ meatiest.

Thanks for listening. I'll give it another look tomorrow.
