Ya, stayed home last night all sober and shit...

So I recorded something out of my hat, just to keep a hang of it..

Compressed it to the fricken maximum this morning:D.. Too much??

Drums need to be a little louder. I hate the robotic blast beating parts, but I guess it fits the genre. The overall compression doesn't seem too bad to me. I've heard worse.

Yeah sorry about the drums..
I only know bad drummers, and my programming skills plain suck, so I try to hide them in volume.:o:D

Good to hear the compression wasn't too harsh, I'm kinda just learning about that stuff.

I agree about the drums - I'm liking the overall groove. It's got a little secret-agent-man but really heavy, which rules.

I have drummer deficiency syndrome (DDS), too. It's a cruel disease. On one song (not metal, and not something I've posted here) I took a real snare and recorded myself hitting that in unison with the fake snare track, then swapped the fake snare for the real one, and it sounded surprisingly good. If you have access to a snare, that might be fun.

Well first i think you have some cool ideas, but the mix seems a little thin and hyped in the highs...almost to the point where it sounds airy. The blasting would be cool if done more sparsely...uummm. Sounds appropriate for the genre however. Where are the gargled on glass vox. I was waiting for something.

Thanks for the inputs!

The reason I'm brushing up on mixing is that we're recording a "bare bones"-demo with a rockish blackmetalband me and a drummerfriend are assembling.

(
..demo guitar and recorded drums,
...basstrack included)

We haven't decided on the singer yet, It'll be either a "Satyricon"-type rattle, or an all-out screamer, both willing it seems...

"bare bones" in here means that drums are recorded with 3 mics on our rehealsalplace, bass DI:d and I'm yet to record guitars...

Hyped up highs are a result of me being afraid of a mushy sound.:o
