alright i have a space of about 4 x 5...give or take some....i was thinking of getting a booth..i only do hip hop and rnb vocals..but iv been told that the voice will sound muffled and unnatrual in such a small space...my main purpse is for accustics..i wanna get rid of the reverb..etc..its in my bedroom..and there is not a lot of ambiant sound..i would love isolation so i can direct monitor..but its not THAT important

basiclly my question is..would putting up accustic pads, bass traps, etc...better then getting a small booth?...thats what it seems like from other people but i dont know...

forthure more..i dont really know much about accustics..so i wouldnt know how to set the pads up or which ones to get..are there sets avaliable? and if so which are the best? i would prefer to spend under 2k on this...and the cheaper the better:-)...

thanks in advance for the help.

I personally think the ASC Studio Traps are perfect for controlling the sound at the mike. You can get 4 of them for about $1500 plus shipping. Six would be about $2400, but perhaps wouldn't fit into your space so nicely. Easy to use: turn the reflectors away for a dead sound, toward the mike for the live, dry sound. You can control the amount of reflected sound by the space you leave between them. They are also bass traps down to about 100 Hz, so they tame some bass problems, too.

I actually use Tube Traps mounted on mike stands, but that's only because I found the Tube Traps for like $200. The Studio Traps are just Tube Traps with handy integral stands. Usual disclaimer: I don't sell them, I just use them and get great results.

so these studio traps would be all i need for a good sound?

You'll do much better to just treat part of your existing room, or get portable absorbers on stands as Otto suggested. Though you can get an even better solution on stands for a lot less than $1500! (See below)

hey..just checked out real traps..seems like a good choice for me..but im not sure which items to get..i do only want to treat a portion of my room..about 4 x 7 ....its a corner in my room..where my bed used to be..so imagine the size of a regular bed...what would be my best option?

A couple of HF MiniTraps on the walls adjacent in the corner will help. That will also give you some useful bass trapping when mixing.

alright..but i want im assuming thats not all i need?...i want to get the that area the best sounding as i can...i will treat the rest of my room for mixing later..first i want to get my vocals to sound good...i was on the site..and they sell a bunch of different stuff..im just not sure what would work the best..

thanks for the help!

Yes, ideally you should treat the entire control room properly to be able to mix well too.

right..i will be treating the rest of my room in the futur..but what do i need for good accustics for the mic..just that space where i will be recording
