Ok I have built this vocal booth approx 6x4x8 inside a 20x10x10 storage unit and it is not fully treated yet but I tried to do a vocal recording in there with two gik244's and some auralex foam and it sounds horrible.

I'm wondering if I should abandon the vocal booth idea and just record vocals in the whole storgae unit or if I wanted to build it larger, how much larger would I need to go for it to sound good?

The treament and the design of the booth is very important. also the mic, the preamp, the proximity.

You need a good solid portable design since you are in a storage closet and you need good ventilation.

Check out the these websites:

1. john sayers forum, studio design, diy studio, diy ventilation www.johnlsayers.com
2. vocal booth plans, iso booth, recording booth, drum booth www.dawbox.com

Hope this helps you out.
