Two Phantom fighter went through the sound barrier yesterday over the town.

I have never heard a sonic boom before. I went to the Farnborough air show the year AFTER they banned ssonic flight over land!

Mics were very cheap, £20 dymos wrapped in cling film in the garden and they feed a Berry 802 and ultimately a Freeview HD recorder.

Just thought FYI?

BTW, has the HR forum system changed? I can no longer find "go advanced" and it took me a while to work out how to attach bang.

Mornin' Dave...

Mp3 is pretty cool :thumbs up:

You've had issues with quoting also(?) What OS and browser are you using?

Is your forum layout similar or kinda like below..... and "Add Files" once you open "Manage Attachments"(?)

Attached is what I was looking for before but now it is there!

I am running Win 7/64 Home basic and IE11. I always struggle with emails and such ESPECIALLY since BT, my email provider keeps "upgrading" and buggering me about.
For instance about 2 months ago my emails suddenly presented differently (in a worse way!) but BT said it was Msofts fault. As an old, one eyed valve jockey, how can I argue?

But I shall muddle on.

Louder birds Mike. Hah! Tis tricky. I have the gain set to capture a decent sound of the songbirds but if a bloody woody CHOSES to sit booming under the mics there is little I can do!

The boom was of course much louder than I could capture, way off 0dBFS but then one does not set one's gain staging to cater for supersonic Typhoon jets in the normal course of wildlife recording does one?

If you look at the clip you will see the pigeon is at about neg 10 rms but the boom slams 0. G A Knows where it should read!

A high-altitude sonic boom over a lake in Wisconsin when I was just a wee lad started my fascination with sound.

A much closer sonic boom by fighter jets (chasing an unidentified aircraft) near my home in 2002 or 2003 was one of the scariest moments of my life... Stuff jumped off the walls. Windows were shattered in buildings several miles away. Thought it was - well, whatever the date was ("9-11" but - you know - whatever the date was). Car alarms, everyone running outside to see WTH was going on -- Me wondering whether my "bug-out" kit was in decent shape --

Sorry -- Side-lining.

(EDIT) So if they were banned, how did you know it was coming to set up the rig?

A high

(we will see how this comes out I hit "Reply with quote" as many times before).

I did not know John! I have a camera and two mics in the garden and run them through the night, Very little has happened for months except bloody cats! About a week ago the first hedgehog arrive much to my wife's delight.

I cannot really remember now (old y'know) why I set things running PM of the 8th but 'er indoors was OTM at the very close up capture of a Robin! Then I saw on local news that we had had the boom* I was distraught that I might have edited that part of the "Robin take" off the disc! But I had not. Jeez! It is bloody hard to find a less than one second event in 1 hr 20mins of video!

But, as you see I got it.

*We did not notice the boom as such. We were indoors at the time however and DID hear "someone" bang on our UPVC front door. Which is weird since we have a bell with a notice to say USE THE BELL! When I looked, there was no one there so that I presume must have been the air blast?

Now, I have just pressed "edit" on my reply and just get a quick reply box.
This has happened before and I did ask but no one seemed to have an answer. The problem just fixed itself.

I suppose I COULD try Chrome or Firefox but frankly I have enough trouble with IE an BT and just cannot be arsed to learn something new. If the time comes I shall "Dump the router, flee to the woods, build a rudimentary toilet and become a full-time, off grid spoon whittler"

Wonder how many will know WTF THAT ^ is about?

Dave.

No, still can't edit in the text. Also, after composition when I hit "Post Reply, it doesn't I get a clear reply box again and have to hit Refresh to send my post.

Dave.

Ah! Now I have just run Ccleaner reg clean and it found just two problems but both with Explorer, moot?

I then did a re-start of the laptop (normally just close the lid) and I now get the full text to edit.

Oil be beck!

Yup, did not need to refresh this time and Quote gives me the previous once again.
Ha! So at least I have a kludge even if I don't know WTF it keeps breaking! (BTW this never happens on the SoS forum!)
