Book shelves...?

I've read that having a book shelf, full of different sized books is good for....
bass trapping? Diffusion?

What?

Cuz it makes sense for bass trapping. I've seen some of those wood block setups where they've got strategically cut lengths of 2X4's or whatever that are mounted to the framework.

Thoughts?

Diffusion I beleive. A tall book would reflect sound back while the short book next to it would let the sound pass, hit the wall, and reflect from that. Those 2x4 things u speak of are diffusers, and that's why they work.

That's exactly the build pics I was lookin for. I remember reading thru that thread awhile ago.

Damn memory's about as long as my.............finger.

That would probably explain why I couldn't find it under bass traps.
