My son's friend came over today for an impromptu jam. His friend started jamming on Bold As Love and started singing it. My son was playing the drums in the jam session. The both liked what they heard so they decided to record it. His buddy recorded the guitar first, but without a metronome, and then recorded the vocals on top of that. It kinda speeds up and slows down a bit but he wanted to keep the guitar take. My son then recorded the bass and drums over the track. This is their own take on the tune, and I think they did pretty good for never have jammed together on the tune before this evening.Anyway here's the clip.

Thanks guys. I think they're going to redo it and work on slowing it down a bit and try to get the tempo in line. I think they'll try to get closer to the original. I think my son is going to try to tackle the lead work. He's got an ear from hell and can pretty much nail most lead stuff he tries to copy. I post the redo when it's done.:)

Not bad for a spur of the moment deal!

I would definitely like to hear it slowed down and at a constant tempo, though. Probably my favorite Hendrix song.

Tell them to keep it up!

Tell your boy to keep going!
That voice really has a lot of character to it, singing dynamics are great! And what accent is that? Sounds really interesting.Giutar sounds pretty good too although there's no Jimi-like solo. (Jimi is a very soft spot for me...:D). Nicely done!
Cheers

Thanks Joey. Hopefully they'll redo it better next time with solo's included.:D

Much kudos. Neat singing voice. Neat playing on all instruments. Anybody that can play that on the guitar has my respect. :)

What kind of processing/ ambience/ reverb/ does the vocal have? What mic? What space?

Nice guitar playing. Sounds good.

Well done. Nice to see kids respecting the stuff we grew up with. Very worthy version.

Thanks Monkey. This tune was recorded on Pro Tools MBox 2. I asked my son about the vocal processing, and he said all he used on the vocal was on board compression and EQ. The vocal mic used was a Shure Beta 87-A. No other processing was used on the vocal.:D
