Well, I screwed up and deleted all my Cubase audio tracks and recovered them and now they don't work. My fingers are crossed that I will be able to fix this issue but....

This is a kind of rough mix of a Dylan cover. It's not as tight as I would like it to be. I thought it was a cool arrangement though and sadly the basic tracks are gone and this mix is all I have.

Love this song!
Tempo is too fast for me.It really affects the groove to me. Just my taste.
Love the lead tone!
Great choice of tune!

This is great. I really enjoyed listening. I'm not familiar with the original.

I thought there were some spots where the rhythm guitar and the lead guitar stepped on each other made it sound like there were timing issues. I first noticed it in the intro then another spot. I think you've got both guitars straight up the middle. Maybe you can get some separation between them.

I like the faster tempo. To me the groove you got going on gives it more of a "Mowtown" vibe.

:thumbs up:

Thanks Chili. These were scratch tracks to see if the arrangement was gonna work. I rushed through them and knocked this out with me playing all the instruments and singing in a couple of hours. There are timing issues for sure...it's not an illusion created by the 2 guitars. it's not perfect but I really dug the groove. This stereo mix is all I have now after my computer mishap

Thanks RFR.
I was going for a Stax vibe on this, but I'll settle for Motown.
lol

I can hear that Stax vibe. Definitely more Memphis than Motown. Great vocals as usual. As Chili pointed out, everything is in the middle. If you're able to get your computer issues sorted out, it would really help to get those guitars out from underneath the vocal. Good playing. I didn't notice any timing problems worth worrying about.

Yeah that's what I meant but it was late and couldnt remember the name.
:D
Whatever it is, it's got it going on. :thumbs up:

Thanks robus.
Everything is down the middle because the quick mix was just to see if the idea was going to be good enough to pursue. I didn't get in to mixing details like panning.
If I can get the tracks I lost back again I will finish this one. I will probably retrack it if I don't get the tracks back. I think it's a worthy groove and arrangement.

Hope you get your tracks working. This definitely would be worth doing some work to get the beginning tightened up. Most of the rest is pretty tight.
Couple snare hits sound high and hot. Couple timing issues with the hats when they open and close (or is that just me?). Fills tend to speed up and slow down. It's got a real live feel to it. A lot of it sounds nice that way.
Drums are too dry for the style of music. At least the high hats need some verb, probably the whole kit.
Love the vocal. You're really coming into your own lately. :)

I feel your pain. My studio computer is tits up. REALLY like the lead tone. In the intro it have a David Gilmore tone. Your arrangement kicks ass.

Thanks H.
If the tracks are corrupted beyond repair I will probably just start from scratch and do this arrangement again. Drums are my weak point though.

I appreciate it track rat. The lead guitar is my '66 start going through a fender mustang modeling amp by the way

I dig your voice. It's classic, has life and personality.

I like the lead and rhythm guitar tones as well.

The drums seem like they aren't what a final take ought to be. The hi-hat rhythms are lop-sided - like the guy is trying to emphasize certain beats while staying with a nome but it's throwing off his mojo.

I'm the drum "guy" and you've described my drumming to a Tee.
lol
Thanks for the listen IBB

Nice adaptation of a classic. Great vocal.. again.

Nice pickin' too, but it's pretty loud.. both the rhythm and leads. If you ever get your tracks back I'd pull those back.. they can come down a good 3dB and still be plenty audible.. and the guitar part that follows the bass during the verses is a little loose, oh ever so slightly.

Small nits.. I think over all it sounds pretty bitchin. Was it you that mentioned awhile back that you overdub all your drum kit elements one at a time to get your drum tracks? Is that what you did with this one?

Yes fat_fleet. I recorded this one like that too. One drum element at a time. I'm not good enough on the drums to play all of them as a drum kit performance. My best friend and drummer for decades could knock stuff like this out in his sleep but sadly he can't play anymore because he has terminal lung cancer. The last time he came to my studio a few weeks ago...he could still play. He Loved this arrangement and tune. He told me "man, I would have loved to have played drums in that but you did good. I said " well, let's record you. I'll mute my half assed drum attempt. He did a pass that was killer with the exception of the end where it just hangs on the verse riff with the lead guitar and fades. He did the kick to go back into the chorus. He said "let me do that over again". he did another pass and dropped a stick. He said "man, I'm like ginger baker now, you're gonna have to duct tape the sticks in my hand...man this bass drum is wearing me out. I'm getting jelly legged" He said "let me do it again" He got off tempo and dropped a stick again. He said "man, the chemo is zapping all my stamina. I feel like I've played 4 sets and taken a Qualude. Let me.come back one morning when I'm fresh and do it"
It never happened....that was it. His drum playing days were over.
The sad thing is, like a total idiot, I recorded over each previous pass with the next performance instead of saving all 3 performances. I could have taken that first killer drum performance and cut and paste the ending from the second one.
one of those moments where I said to myself "Next time.I won't be so stupid"
I didn't realize there would be no next time.
I blew recording the last time he ever sat behind his drum kit and played.
Sorry to ramble on but I really love that guy and blowing that recording really bothers me.
