Sounds crystal clear to me. I thought maybe the banjo was a wee bit loud in relation to the other stringed instruments, and I wasn't sure, but it seemed like the soloing instruments got panned to the center which seemed odd as I am used to a more static mix for this kinda music. But, it sounds pretty freakin' great.
I am by no means an expert, but I do own a copy of Old and in the Way and I have heard Flatt and Scruggs .
but yeah recording wise
banjo and acoustic=very good tone
voice=sounds really good and fits really good in themix
sliding gutiar= sounds a bit weird..the volume keeps going up and down and just sounds a bit muddy the first time it comes it..but it gets ALOT better towards the end..
mandolin=sounds great
overall this is a really good song and very well recorded and mixed.
