I checked out Baltic Latvian Universal Electronics (B.L.U.E.) “Made in USA” Dragonfly microphone counterfeited replica.

Following are my (as original designer and manufacturer) opinions.

1.

Mic is not made in Latvia, evidence is “Made in USA” label on it.

Definitely it is not made under professional quality control.

I do not believe that USA manufacturers could produce such quality parts from which this mic is assembled and packed.

2.

Sound quality of replica is not different from most microphones manufactured in Asia located factories.

Sounding characteristics are principle different from my original microphones, famous to sound engineers and artists over the world.

3.

Unfortunately stolen from originals visual design of replicas can look charming for some non experienced buyers...

Wishing the best,

JZ (Juris Zarins)

P.S.
As you know some China made short life watches with “Rolex trademark” on them are looking fine too :)

Thanks for the info (objective, I'm sure ;) ) but do you and the BLUE guy want to take your pissing contest elsewhere?

Neither of your opinions mean much because you both clearly have axes to grind.

thanks

i get your trying to keep your reputation but the thing is... if people know its fake.. and still buy it and it sucks, then there not gonna be "im never going to buy a real blue mic" there gonna just think "shit.. i shouldnt of wasted my money on this piece of junk, that will teach me for buying fakes"
:)

Hey asshole you know you're digging yourself a huge hole and I hope you're mics fall in it with you. Blue has stated that manufacturing would begin to take place in the United States. And its also nice to know you have such a high opinion of the American worker, I wasn't aware our QC wasn't up to Latvian standards. Blue has made a couple statements but none equal to the amount of bullshitting and bashing you and you're cheesy ass company seem to spend a majority of your time doing. Why don't you concentrate on mics that don't rip off other companies right down to their logo and stop puttin all your efforts into bashing Blue on recording forums. Have a nice day.

I'll try to take the high road here. JZ, would you mind clarifying some of your comments? In particular:

Could you provide us an example of something on the mic that leads you to this conclusion, other than the "Made in USA" label? Are there cold solder joints on the circuit board? Do they use inferior transformers, capacitors, resistors, and/or other electronic components? Are there loose connections? Does the capsule appear to be loose? In general, which kinds of parts produced in the USA do you deem to be inferior to those made in other countries?

This statement is a very broad generalization about "Asian" manufactured microphones in general. While many cheap Chinese condensers have a hyped and sometimes shrill high end bump, there are others of higher quality that are fairly neutral and others that are quite "dark" sounding. Could you articulate how the sound quality is "not different" from Asian mics? What mics are you using as a reference? Do you have a frequency response plot of one of your mics versus one of the American made Blue mics?

Providing some or all of these details may add credence to your initial statements. As it stands right now, your argument doesn't hold much merit. In fact, as written, I would imagine that it would cause folks to side against you rather than for you.

=>quality is low

I do not believe that USA manufacturers could produce such quality parts from which this mic is assembled and packed.

Does he actually try to say "I do not believe that USA manufacturers could produce such LOW quality parts from which this mic is assembled and packed."

No other comments (don't personally like wars like this either).

You will see JZ's comments about the US made Dragonfly. I dunno much about capsule construction to comment--maybe more screw are better
Ah...well, comments from anonymous customers and two photos taken from different angles of mics that might or might not be Dragonfly mics are enough to satisfy me. The scarlet letter "A" on the BLUE capsule says it all. Case closed...

Now, pardon me...I'm off to buy the Brooklyn Bridge on eBay.

I like how they keep calling the newer capsuled mic a "fake" eventhough its still manufactured by Blue. Thats like saying every corvette built after '82 is fake because they moved factories. I think its ridiculous that these guys are bashing Blue this bad. Blue gets on makes one statement regarding the situation and Violet sends goons on to post pics and report everything as fake. I like their little post on the website, seems to me to run a little close to being on the illegal side. Anyway when all this first came out I was curious to try their mics, after seeing their maturity level or lack there of I'm no longer interested in even looking at those rip offs. IMO everyone who gets on that is in any way affiliated with JZ should instantly be blocked. Can't they take a little healthy competition.

Some intelligent, anonymous guy gave me this rep for the above post:

Many people have nothing but disgust for you, cominginmyass. You're a self-rightous sack of shit, with nothing meaningful to add. Ever. You're a waste of space. Why don't you crawl back into the dank hole you came out of. You are vile stench.

Well, obviously I have a better rep than this guy around here because his negative only subtracted 3 from me. What a coward!! If you're going to say something, at least own up to it.

That seems a little strong.

Seriously, I think personal attacks beget more personal attacks.

I try to avoid them (imperfectly)

I got this little gem:

"Speaking of grinding, have you ever tried shoving coffee grounds up your ass and then drinking a pot of extra-hot water? Asshole percolator! Asshole percolator! Asshole percolator! Asshole percolator! Asshole percolator! Asshole percolator!"

Ooooo...I like yours better than the one that I got:

"You never learn, Jerfo. You are a sack of shit. Time to call it quits. Why don't you go stick your cock in a blender, then come back and tell the class how it feels to have a ground-up cock."

Wow. Someone has very little to do, it seems. Self reflective stuff all over again. Oh well.

My best wishes, hurrays and bunches of respect to B.L.U.E. and every other company that has the guts to step into the front lines of the U.S. microphone market. That's got to be as tough as it gets and we're the ones benefitting from it all.

Does anyone else feel like they're in the Princess Bride movie?

"The contest of wit has begun. It ends when you decide and we both drink. Then we will see who is right... and who is dead..."

"You only THINK I guessed wrong, you fool! Ha! Ha! Never go up against a Latvian when DEATH is on the line....!"

It'll be interesting to see what the law has to say about all this in a year or so- and who has the manufacturing ability to actually bring some good mics to market at that time.

Right on schedule - my last post earned me a negative rep point with a string of invective that would do a thirteen year old drunk proud... Kinda proving my point. :D
