Was thinking of getting this as my microphone to record my Vocals and also Acoustic Guitar.

Ive heard firstly Blue is an amazing microphone company. and This is also a great microphone, can anyone review it or tell me what they think...if theres soemthing better in the Blue range and not more expensive.

Whats better

I dont mind spending this much on the Baby Blue bottle microphone. Thats one thing we havent put in our budget as we know what we want...but nothing more expensive...which is better the Blue Spark or the Blue baby bottle...i will be recording vocals and guitar on it so whatevers best

acoustic guitar or amped?

It depends on content to some extent. When not dealing with a ruler flat response and other things. Which the baby bottle does NOT have. It basically flat out says what it's personality is trying to be, which is not a mic for all occasions. The spark is probably a little more neutral (and cheaper).

had a friend (dafduc ---rip) who had one he was anxious to try on my sax when I was up in Detroit 6 or 7 years ago.
It sounded like shite for that purpose.
We tried and tried and finally gave up and used something else.

But id like to use blue microphones...and i only would use the microphone for vocals and guitar...no brass etc.

so would the spark be better for my uses or not?? compared to the baby bottle

The BLUE Bottle is one of the best sounding mics I've ever heard. The Baby bottle is one of the worst. Just my opinion. Big Kenny's options are WAY better IMO.

really :/ thats a shame :( so should i go for the spark??

How about the Bluebird? Don't let the $299 price tag worry you. It is more of a universal mic while all the others are more application sensitive.

Sunny england :D i sort of noticed this is an american forum now lol

And yes i think ive decided what im going to do (knowing me i'll pick a hint somewhere and change everything)

What do people think of this as a beginners recording studio

Blue bluebird microphone

(can someone recomend a cheap cable to plug from microphone to audio interface)

and then Tascam US1641

IMHO a "safer" choice would be the Studio Projects CS1.

FWIW my other favorite LDC for under $500 IS the Baby Bottle, but what works great for me, may not work as well for you. The CS series is way more flexible, and I was just as pleased with the tone.

I hear mixed responses....its like some people love it, some dont like it...I am only 16 at the moment...and so buying any equipment i tihnk im ahead of most people my age...and i love everyobdys input...but i found a good package with the blue bottle. so i think for the first few years whilst i leanr how to record properly etc. im going to go for this...because anything can beat by £10 microphone from argos!! And i have heard altogether Blue is an amazing company, so it can't be doing anything too wrong the blue bottle.

With most < $500 mics, there is a bit of purpose specific fitness. The Blue Bluebird is the better mic. In terms of can't try before you buy the bluebird would be the safest bet on Blue. And more of a workhorse type mic. i.e. Good on many things.

Otherwise seek out samples of them in use. Youtube and many other options these days with many amateur folks posting samples of their new toys. Not the best judge on some gear, but it should at least give you a feel for if it's universally hated. Or universally loved. The SPL specs on the baby bottle and spark are kind of low-ish. You want some headroom in there.

You could probably still use all those mics for that purpose, but you might have to be 6' from the mic for some of them. Depending on the source. Which is not ideal if you want the room to source mix to favor the source. And for the baby bottle, you'll probably have to fudge the EQ quite a bit to get a sound you favor. Depending on the source.

Sennheiser, Neuman, Gefell, Schoeps, and many other decent mic brands in your neck of the woods. Unless you happen to live closer to Latvia, than Germany.
