Blending clips

I have one guitar track with multiple takes/clips. They seem to blend together for the most part except for the volumes. They aren't drastically different, but enough to drive me a little crazy. Is there a way to smooth out the volumes, truly blend the tracks, or employ envelopes here. Also is there a way to glue all of the little clips back into one big clip that Sonar recognizes as one soild clip?

Volume envelopes would probably be the best method. You might have some success using compression, but you'll have better control using an envelope.

To combine them all, simply highlight all the clips and select Edit > Bounce to Clips.

As an option to what Dachay2tnr said, note that there are 'clip' gain envelopes that might be handy in this task as they only extend accross a given clip.
Sometimes I track punches onto new tracks (so I don't have to worry about messing with the main track), and drop a clip envelope on if they need matching. (You get to just grab the whole envelope line, no 'nodes' to add) Then after you set up all the trim points, if you bounce them into a comped track you still have the regular volume envelopes for the final.
Naturaly, if you just punch into a track, it makes a new clip,so the same applies.:D

I'll second that--those clip-specific gain envelopes are great for smoothing out a comped track of lots of different takes.
