Hello All
I am new to this site. I hope to learn alot from you guys and experiences alot of new technique for recording and instruments playing.
Now I setup my home Computer recording studio down my basement. Everything is a go for my recording. My problem is with bleeding (got this termnology from this site) in my recordings.
Whenever I record a 2nd track, I can hear my 1st track in it.
I know I shouldnt hear anything cos it's all direct recording
I dont use mics.

How do I separate my recording into diff tracks?

Here are recording gears & settings:

M-Audio Quattro USB 4 input/4 output
&
Behringer UB222FX-Pro http://www.behringer.com/UB2222FX/index.cfm?lang=ENG

My cd player which I use rca cables to plug to the Tape Output of the Mixer.
On the Mixer, I have 1/4" trs cables connect to both left & right of Main Outputs & Sub output.
On the other end is connected to my M-audio Quattro Soundcard Input 1 thru 4.
Also, the soundcard output is connect with Mixer's Stereo Aux Return.

Hope I didnt confuse anyone with question.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks so much!!!

have you checked your windows soundcard setup?

right click on the speaker/sound icon (lower right)
select OPEN VOLUME
select OPTIONS in the upper left

checkout your Playback & Recording setup.

thats what fixed my "bleed" problem. I deselected everything except the few I was using. (mic, lineout, volume..)
*also killing the AUX dropped my noise floor greatly?

i'm a newbie at the pc stuff....so maybe this is too basic an answer.

good luck.

It could be outside your computer. Becuase you are creating a type of loop from your computer back into your mixer, you could be getting bleed from that insert into the other channels. Try disconnecting the mixer's Stereo Aux Return and see what happens.
