The Next Vanilla Ice
Today when I went to record some guitar tracks on my PC, I started hearing tons of clicks and pops through the monitors and when I went to record, I played the track back and it was full of pops. The other day the recordings were just fine and now they are like this. Do you think some dust or something got into the inputs of the mixer? Would that do anything?

I need help with this problem ASAP.

Is stuff you tracked previously clicking and popping, of just new stuff?
If its just new stuff, it could be a shorted cable, if its all of your stuff, then it could be a number of things. Make sure your system sounds are turned off, and that theres nothing competing for the soundcard.
Other than that, I dunno.

try monitoring the sound of the mixer thru headphones to eliminate the mixer as the culprit....have you installed any software to that computer since the last time you recorded or messed with any settings.....

I think I fixed it, its not the cable but the output of my preamp. Whenever I wiggle the 1/4" output jack, it makes tons of clicks and stuff and since my mixer sort of shakes my desk, it was wiggling the the jack so I put it up on a little platform to stop the problem right now but I'm going to fix the jack a little later.

Thanks for replying.
