I have a brand new 2022 AC-MC800G
I had just taken out the box connected to my Apollo X8

Warmed it up for an hour Boote up pro tools

Clicked line eagerly to check the microphone out

Unbeknownst to me I had the 48v
Left on the Apollo rack
For 30-40 min

Wondering if I damaged anything in the AC-MC800G
Or the C800G ?!!!

Expert knowledge needed
If any damage occurs when two phantom powers are on :/

Thx

I'm sure you didn't damage anything. Phantom power would be removed at the power supply and will never see the mic.. Sony would be laughed at if they let something as common as phantom power destroy an AC power supply.

Other than some ribbon mics, phantom power rarely proves a problem to any microphone.

Exactly! Remember that the kinds of studios who buy mics like these treat them as tools - so any mic that didn't like having external 48V applied would not be on their shopping list. I've tried applying phantom to one of my ribbons and it gets cancelled out in the transformer.

More importantly - what is it like?

Thank you
For all replies
Appreciate it

Now comes a more interesting question

While having the AC-MC800G
On
Forgetting to connect the Mic in
Thinking the power was off
Having the Apollo mic line off
Being on mic

Plugging in the cable into the power supply
Hearing to distinct pops obviously from applying power

Two short brief cable in connections to the to the power to come to be reminded power was on :/

Would that damage any components in the C800G

Microphone sounded scarily good the times I used it
