BFD drums in Sonar Rendering Problems

hey there, just got a copy of BFD and the drums sound pretty good. I'm having a problem using the plug-in, though.

First of all, everything seems to be working ok except that it plays a little off-beat sometimes. I know this is not part of the humanization function (which i turned off), and is due to the high quality samples streaming from my slow disc. This is ok and basicly when I render the audio, the playback is perfectly on beat.

BUT, the problem i've been having during rendering is that the file that is produced cuts off some of the samples too soon. For example, during a fill some of the cymbal crashes start but immediately get cut off right after you hear them hit.

I've been messing with some of the settings and i can't seem to get it to work. It seems as though BFD should render audio better than this seeing as how rendering does not need the plug playing in real time.

Any tips or tricks?

Hi there,

Go to the www.fxpansion.com website, create yourself an account and download the v1.0.15 release version - (yes, it's beta, but these guys seem to drop functionality into each subsequent 'mini' release and the beta 15 has a lot of Sonar fixes built into it.)

If you still can't get it to play, do a search of the BFD forum over at www.kvr-vst.com in the fxPansion support area - you will find plenty of discussion of this issue.

In the short term, make sure you toggle the BOUNCE switch on the main BFD interface prior to telling Sonar to bounce it to track/file. If that doesn't work, turn off FAST BOUNCE in Sonar.

But make sure you update the program version to beta 15.

Let us know if you have any more grief.

Ciao,

thanks, great response. I"ll look into these and let you know.

thanks again.

No worries mate - good luck!

BFD is still a v1.0 application and consequently can behave like a right royal pain in the arse, but once you have got it configured correctly it is truly a thing of beauty.

They are also readying the release of a v1.5 (freebie download for registered users), which will double the number of kit pieces you can load up which was my only remaining gripe about the package.

I also got the XFL add-on which is very nice, but passed on the 8-bit kit thing as it doesn't fit into my musical cup of tea, but plenty of other folks seem quite impressed.

How's that credit card looking?
