Beyerdynamic MCE83 ?

What little I've found on a web search says ,"Beyer MCE83TG, the instrumental version of the '91, the MCE83TG has similar performance but is not intended to be used as a vocal mic although by adding a windsock it would perform quite well.

The MCE83TG is perfect over drums, choirs, strings or other critical situations"

Even a search on the Beyer site turned up nothing :confused: How would a pair of these compair to something like the Rode NT5's ?

Sound on sound did a review of the MCE83 in 1994 - it was a back electret mic just like the opus 83 - to be honest I would be surprised if there was much of a difference between them.

The beyerdynamic site isn't great it has no info on older mics, no support section etc.
 
Hey paddy...thanx for the reply.Yeah, that SOS review showed up on the web search,but when I went to the site it was no longer available.Sure is strange that so little info on the mic can be found.I'm half tempted to buy a couple of em' but would like to know more about them before I did.Anyone have/used to have this mic in their collection ?Was it ok...did it suck...?(in particular drum overheads-metal)or would you recommend something like SP C4's in this price range over these. Just curious...thanx.
