H'lo all. First time posting, Harmonica player looking for a Beyerdynamic M160. Any experience with them? I'm looking for smooth tone quality. Been using Shure 57 for years. Is there a significant difference between the two? any comments appreciated

The M160 is a Ribbon mic - the results are subtle - I think the M160 has more body, and smoother and silkier top end - whether you’ll notice depends on your ears and the PA - whether anyone in the audience notices- doubt it - maybe a little bit on the SM58 - has a tiny bit harsher top end (which can be eq’d out.)

I loved mine, BUT it did not survive a boom stand toppling when i tripped. I am very clumsey. Beyer offered a repair but i was struggling with money at the time so i sold it as faulty. 25 years later i wish id just kept it. I am not sure they're really a harmonica friendly mic? The Shure Green bullet and the other cup in hand mics seem better suited. Ive tried 58s with success but never a 57.
