Hi,

I'm looking at the Beyer 250.

Just wondering whether I should get the 250 80 or the 250 250. I think the 80 and 250 represents the resistance (ohms) of the headphones. Why is that an issue? I'm going to be using the headphones with a soundcraft m-series mixer. According to the manual the headphone jack of the soundcraft has an impedance of 40ohms.

My understanding is that you only need a headphones amp if you?re driving a number of headphones simultaneously.

I've asked this question regarding whether I should get the 250-250 or the 250-80 on a few other boards and I'm getting so many different answers, I'm totally confused.

Thanks guys,

Yo Brian with three strikes:

Get the Beyer DT770 cans. For the money, they are tops. I've got and had several types of cans, Sony, AKG, and the Beyer 250's.

I just like the engineering in the Beyer cans and the SOUND.

If you want a can amp, you have many choices. Can amps are used so more than one person can listen to what's happening.

I have a Peavy 4 input can amp and it's all I need in my studio. But, you can check out other types on this site. Don't let the cosmetics of a product fool you, or a "very high" price; my Peavy looks like it came off the Galactica and you know how old that series is?

AKG makes good cans and so does Sony. I guess it's all in the ears. I like Beyer; I don't sell Beyer; I don't work for Beyer. However, I like the product.

Shop around and let your ears guide you, as well as input from this site.
