Postings on eBay for belts and hub adapters sometimes are double the price then what you can buy from Teac/ Tascam. Just a few weeks ago I was on eBay and found an auction for 1 used NAB hub adapter and the seller wanted $25.00 plus 5.00 for shipping. I made a call to Teac parts department and bought a new one for 15.05 Plus shipping. I paid 21 and change. Bottom line is when possible buy direct from Teac/ Tascam and save money. Has anyone ever come across this first hand? I would be interested to know.

Yep, I saw that same semi-scam a while back, when looking for a belt for a TASCAM 80.

Shameful. Thanks for reporting.

I have come across it everyday of my life. I drive by stores of all kinds that have differant prices. Cars food clothes homes. Its nothing new. There is nothing wrong with it. Its one of the things this country was founded on.

But dont worry Obama is on his way to save us all from this kind of shit.
Teac/tascam has been on his list for quite some time now to take over the company. We will all be share holders and the prices will be fixed so this kind of thing will never happen again.

Herm, you bore. Oh, and you are in violation of the forum's TOA, too.

IMHO, it's wrong when the seller is banking on the fact that the general public won't be aware that they can order the parts direct or new from somewhere for less money. But true, unfortunately it does happen everywhere.

On a side note, I haven't been all that happy with some of the belt prices I've gotten from Teac, after having ordered generics from a third party. Belts which were close to ten bucks via Teac where about a dollar, and the majority of the machines I replaced gooey rubber in were factory belts so it isn't as if their quality accounts for the difference. My last batch from Teac was also poorly packaged with several in one baggie, leaving me to guess which was which.

Take Care

PS- How about the owner's/service manual racket?? Pay $25 for a handful of paper, or pay $24 to get it from a guy who (possibly) paid the 25 then made mass copies and opened his own store. :D

- I will add that the last SM I ordered from eBay was put together better than the majority of my Tascam ones, but I've never seen the original on that (could've been nice, it was old).

TOA? Your going to have to help me out on that one

And sorry if I offended any Obama, or Comi fans. I really do love them all.

Yep,

We've been trying to get the word out for several years now that Tascam Parts Dept is the best deal in town, and should be the first place to check. Many eBay sellers hope people don't catch on. :)

Tascam was the first place I thought of when I needed stuff for my equipment. I was blown away at the availability of the parts still sitting around. That's why I love 'em.;)

I've finaly got an email from one of the junkbay Lister's that I've been emailing for a month or so asking him basically why I should buy from you when I can buy the items from Teac directly for almost half of what your wanting to charge. His reply was: Sorry, you can't afford to bid. Thanks fro looking.

Mike.
Well, that wasn't a real good answer to my question. It's not a question of having or not having the money to bid on this item, it's the price I can pay for this item from the dealer and have money left over to buy other things with the money I saved by not buying from him.

I emailed this clown last week asking why should I buy from you at your price when I can buy from Teac and spend half the money? He replies back to me, Sorry you can't afford to bid. Thanks for looking. Mike. That's not the case. I can afford it I just choose to afford it cheaper from the dealer.

I guess my good friend asc1975 hates me. I invited him to explain his high prices and discuss things on this thread but he has not replied yet. I guess I'll email him next week when he tries to sell his items.

one must remember that the whole ebay auction thing is based (from the sellers point of view) on potential buyers NOT doing the research they should before bidding - I watch alot of different type of things on ebay as I have different interests - I regularly see used items sell for more than new, retail - from a sellers point of view it's gotta be great -
my big beef is that folks selling electronic gear that have absolutely no clue what it does or how to test it & have a stupid high start or buy it now price -
why on earth would I buy an untested DA98 or DA78 HR for $500 - or even $50 - and then someone does - go figure - personally, I think some of these sellers are buying old components at the flea market for pennies & putting them up for auction & makin money -
bottom line is you gotta do your homework first - if you miss the one your looking at, there will be more - I have been patient & made some good buys there - and (so far) have been able to turn around a couple not so good buys - D.

Ya, I agree with your post. I will also add that I'm just trying to help potential analog people on the forum out. Bottom line for me posting this almost every week is, why buy from a third party when you can get it cheaper from the factory? I know the supply and demand plays a part and people need to make money but on the other hand people need to save money here and their so the can buy more things if that's what it's all about.
