Hello! I currently own a M-AUDIO Audiophile sound card..
I wanted to upgrade my sound card to a better one..
Should I stil go with M-Audio cards or a different one?
I was searching for other M-Audio cards, this is what I found:

M-AUDIO Delta 1010
M-AUDIO Delta 410
M-AUDIO Delta 1010LT
M-AUDIO Delta 66
M-AUDIO Delta 410

Can you guys help me out choose a better one for recording HIP-HOP/R&B music..
Are there any better sound cards than M-AUDIO for under $500?
Thanks..
:)

the delta is a better overall card vs the mbox.. the mbox just has a ok/decent preamp...
out of the crds listed the delta 1010 has the best quality

It`s $549 , but the LynxOne kills any Delta card, the Lynx converters sounds downright amazing!

Depending on if you want microphone preamps or not - the Aardvark Direct Pro 24/96 with preamps or LX6 without are very solid.

I've got two 1010s that I use and am happy.
Paid about $425 used for the second one.
Going from 10 to 16 tracks on input
made my life a lot easier.

Of course, they don't have preamps,
so be sure to factor in appropriate
mixer/preamp into your budget.

ok here's my plan, i'm not sure if I'm right..
i plan to get a korg triton rack module hook to evolution midi controller..
then a mic hook to a pre-amp, then sound card..
my question is.. can i hook up the keyboard to the pre-amp or do i need a mixer?
i just need to record keyboard sounds and vocals..
not a whole band thing..
so any suggestion for sound card with this setup?
also i plan to get a monitor for under $500, can you guys suggest a one?

one more thing is echo layla, darla, ro ardvark better than delta cards?

aardvark Q10 has built in mic preamps on all 8 inputs, so you don't need to spend money for mixer...

is the preamp from aardvark better than grace or aphex?
can i plug the keyboard into the pre amp? how many ins does aardvard have?
how many channels do pre amp usually have?

i was browsing musiciansfriend and found the card,.. it looks hot..
if i get that card over a mixer/pre/soundcard choices.. how will i go with the setup with my headphones, studio monitors?
Can I plug the keyboard to this thing and record as audio?
will it sound better or should i go with midi-based?

it seems it did not answer my question..
is the preamp from aardvark better than grace or aphex?

Most opinions reckon the Aardvark pres are about the level of a mackie vlz pro, maybe a little better (maybe not). Definitely useable for home recording.

I havent heard the grace 101 (and only heard the aardvark in the shop). Based on the price and what has been written about the grace, there is no way that the aardvark is in the same class. Of course it depends on the rest of your setup as to whether you will notice any much difference.

The layla has the best measured sound quality out of the cards you have mentioned (excluding the lynx) and includes an ADAT i/o so you can add 8 more channels of i/o later. Thats the reason it costs more, though again the differences over a delta 1010 will be subtle. Echo has great driver support.

soundcards evals.

yo man u should really check out www.pcavtech.com for soundcards before u go deep with it for real. its a BANGIN soundcard site! u get some big time detailed schematic info on the top soundcards. Lynx one, lynx two. aardvark 24/96 is all bangin cards according to the site. check it out.
