better drum samples

i was making beats today and i was stuck at what to do on a certain beat, so i figuered i would study the masters and i threw on deltron 3030. May i just say holy crap! those are some of the best best beats ever made. especially 3030. Well anyway back to the point. Im getting annoyed with crappy drum samples and decided it time to shell out for some good sounds, but im not sure what to buy. any advice? What to the pros use? On another note how many of you find it exeptable to use a drum loop you didnt make?

oh n wot u were sayin bout usin pre-made drum beats. personally i cudnt do this because it aint 'production' if u just use that solely for your beat. i just think that you cant really call it your own shit but its ok if you just sample like a kick or a snare. i think it can work well sumtimes and sumtimes not. anyway thats just wot i think.

Don't shell out!

Seriously, you don't need to pay for good drum samples. I've bought one sample CD in my entire life - ONE - and I don't even use that any more. You can usually get good drum samples from the cover CDs on music tech magazines. Failing that, the internet's always been a friend to the samplist - there's millions of the buggers out there.

And of course, there's always your record collection, but that's pretty hit-and-miss, and it involves spending a lot of time in editors.

As for using drum loops - I don't turn my nose up at it, exactly, but I can't bring myself to use unembellished loops myself. (Mind you, I don't often use loops of anything without treating and beating them beyond recognition.) One thing I do like to do with drum loops is chop them up and layer other drum hits on top of them - that way you can get nice, full, live-sounding loops that you can call your own.
 
I only use one-shot drum samples demo packs from internet sites (such as bangin-beats's demo).

I collected quite a LOT, and I didn't have to pay a buck. Look for them. They're easy to find. And they're usually good quality (I'm actually making money out of it, heheheh.)
