I have a nice six piece DW drum kit. Currently I'm using sm57's on the two rack toms, and two older shure beta condensers on the floor toms. My band is playing out alot now and I'm looking for some clip-on style mic's for the toms and possibly the snare. I've looked at the Audix f90, the audio technica 35's, and the shure beta 98d/s. Anyone have any experience with any of these. Budget isn't that important and I want the best.
I'm leaning towards the Shure beta 98's. They pick up a wider dynamic range, and handle higher spl's. I'm also thinking they might be good enough for using in my studio as well. Not sure about the audix, or the audio technica's though. any opinions?
I use AKG C2000's overhead, and shure axs 4 condenser's on the hi-hats and ride.
