Sorry, but latency isn't just an OS issue. It also involves your sound card, the type of drivers you are using, the quality of the drivers, system memory, CPU, and on and on.

Devilfire, you should really listen to Dachay. He knows what he's talking about. :)

Basically I would say Windows 2000/XP is the best, but with your soundcard it's not the OS. It's mostly the drivers fault. Sorry 'bout that...

That's absolutely true. It also depends on buffer size and sampling rate.

For your reference, however..

Windows 2000 SP3
Delta 1010
Cubase SX
Latency 4ms

im aware of the hardware issues, i was just asking which O/S IMPROVES latency performance

Well, WDM is (best) supported under WinXP/2000, so if you use Sonar, you would be best off with XP/2000.

I'm using P3,1GH processor,512 MB Ram.
Windows 2000 Professional and Soundblaster Live
Platinum 5.1 w/KX project replacement drivers.
This gives me 2.6ms Latency in Cubase SX 1.05 and its rock solid,
never crashes or weirds out on me.

Take care,regards - Matt
