Hey Guys,

The title says it all really, Im looking for a pair of condenser mics for cymbals. IM not looking for cheapest but definitely good value. I'm willing to spend between $300-400.

I've got a CAD drum kit set which I've outgrown mostly due to the fact that I use a 57 on snare and a Beta52 on kick. So really I only use the CAD mics for Toms (when I do use tom mics). The thing is I obviously ALWAYS use overheads, and the CAD condensers are definitely a weak link in the chain.

Please provide any suggestions
Thanks

Find a pair of Oktava MK-012 mics. You should be able to find a used matched pair in about that price range.

Thanks guys!

I'm watching a couple of ebay auction for these at the moment, and it does look like a matched pair is within my reach (on the higher side).

As far as the modded ones those are definitely out of my price range unfortunately, as they cost close to double what they do on ebay.

These definitely seem great, and I went through a bunch of sound samples that solidified that opinion, however, Im still open to more suggestions, so bring them on!

Go to the Nanaint microphone site and just get your self a pair. They are cheap enough to be able to get those and the 012's then you'll have some variety. ;)

The Naiant mics seem great, and I've seen them get some great reviews in this forum.

The only thing is I dont see a cardioid pair in the listings. I should've specified, I prefer cardioid small diagphram condensers for OHs.

P.S seriously considering a pair of Naiant SDC Omin Condensers for acoustic guitar.

Thankss dudes keep 'em coming!

Pro 37

Hi,

Audio Technica Pro 37 (Pro 37r). SDC cardiods. Great for overheads. Also good for recording acoustic guitar. Very detailed high end.

Thanks,

Hairy Larry
