Hi guys.
as I am getting serious with my band, I decided we can no longer record using the on board sound card (yea, yea...).
Anyway, I am looking to buy a usb interface for recording guitars/mics (electronic drums are hooked up using a usb to midi cable-interface).
The requirements are: usb 2.0, 2 XLR connectors, and.. a preamp, I guess?
It also has to cost less than 250$.
I was aiming for the M-audio fast track pro, but after reading a few reviews, I passed.
Other than m-audio, emu and line6, which other companies manufacture entry level interfaces?
Thanks, Noam.

My First interface was a Tascam US144

it 2 xlr preamp and 2 1/4" inputs (with 1 selectable for guitar input rather than mic)

stereo/mono switchable so u dun have an empty channel goign through if ur just gonna use 1 mic

its usb like u wanted

great flexibility with monitoring ur pc/instrument or return to pc/headphones

its nothing flashy but it was cheap and got my music from point A to point B..

got it for $200AUD~ $170USD (really a friend paid for it as i convinced him to 'invest' in my band) =P

i havnt had experience with other USB interface btw~

if all these sound incoherent its cos its the end of a long work day here in Aus.. apologies..:o
