best usb 2.0/firewire equipped mixer for under $500?

looking for a usb 2.0/firewire equipped mixer in the sub-$500 range. i'd like it to have a minimum of 6 xlr in's, as we'd be using this not only as a mixer for rehearsals and possibly smaller gigs, but also for recording rough ideas at rehearsal.
 
I don't know if you will be able to find a powered mixer with a USB or FireWire out (you will need a powered one for practicing and gigs, yes?). Mackie has a line of digital mixers (onyx series), but those are expensive and un powered. So I don't know how far 500 bucks will get you in the realm of 6 pres, with USB/FireWire connectivity, and the ability to power monitors.
