I've been struggling with getting a good sound for my hooks. I want to get a nice thick stack, but I havn't been able to consistently get the sound I want, I'm especially having trouble with singers.
I'm looking for something similar to this hook

For singer I'm looking for something similar to Usher's hook on "Yeah"

Any help would be appriciated thanks.

There are many things you can do... Here are a couple:

If the vocalist is capable of doing tight natural doubles/harmonies, that's great to have as an option in your mix. Maybe leave the doubles in the center and pan the harmonies out.

You can record harmonies or even make your own faux harmonies (via melodyne for example). It's nice to have the syllables aligned with faux harmonies, but of course it depends on your singers ability as well.

Try using some delay/reverb. You could try some pre-delay on a delay with 0% or low feedback just to thicken it up a little bit.

Be weary of the low end build up when stacking BG VOX/Harmonies.. you may want to use a High Pass Filter on the BG vox
