Based on my observations here, Creative Labs is not held in the highest esteem... with that said, what sound card is the best value for 100.00 bucks? 150? 200?

I should upgrade my sound, and I was thinking about an audigy platinum, but now you all have got me thinking. What is the solution?

It seems like you have this choice - Cheap, Reliable, Better Performance - pick two. Where do I go from here?

I'm probably gonna get blazed to all hell for this but I have an AUDIOTRAK INCA88....8 in 8 out 1/4" with breakout box for around $200. I have never had any problems with it using cakewalk, n-tracks, cubase 5.

inca 88

These folks have it for $189.

Echo Mia. Balanced 1/4" ins and outs. I love mine, and it works great with Via chipsets.

HH, I'm interested in this as well. As far as the breakout box goes, is that a stand-alone box or does it actually fit in an open drive bay slot in the front of the computer?

The Inca 88 Has a break out box with about three feet of cable and the break out box will fit in the bay except you gotta cram the cable in there and you have to hook the cable up to the outside of the pci card.....there might be bypass on the board somewhere but I'm too lazt to crack open my pc to look.

All the fun specs are here

INCA88

they say it's discontinued but you can still find them online.

It looks like a 16 bit card. It says that it supports 20 bit digital output, but it looks a bit fishy. I'd be suspicious about the A/D converters and the Win2k/XP driver support.

I'd check into the C-Port (10 in 10 out w/breakout box) or the Delta 1010lt if you're going to use a mixer.

how can you tell how many bits the sound card has? sound blaster pci 512, thanks
