Thanks in advance, just looking for a high quality module.

Everybody & they Mama got a Triton Rack, haha. I heard Roland modules are the best out right now, looking for more thoughts!

Actually everybody, their mama, aunts and uncle Nate have Roland modules. I personally am sick of hearing roland sounds everywhere. But that's just me.

I have a Roland JV 5080 and compared to my Motif 8 it is a piece of crap. I may end up selling it.... and I have prefered Roland over Yamaha over the years but the Motif is so good it really spoils you.

Thats a little like saying whats best vehilcle. Do you need a dump truck, a bicycle, a sprorts car, and airplane?. What sorta module you looking for?

The Kurzweil is ill as hell, especially because of all the programming you can do with it. And the sounds are, well, Kurzweil. Nicer than the Korg, but kind of beasts of a different burden.
The Motif over the Triton, unless you get the MOSS xpansion board. If you get a Korg, get the Karma with the MOSS board, you can always disable the KARMA features, and then you've got a damn triton, anyway.

I'll say it 'fore Chriss does, cause he's damn skippy....Novation SuperNova, pppppppppppphhhhhhhhatest synth on the market, can make the wackiest, weirdest, most fucked up sounds with that beast, just play with it at GC for like two seconds, you'll see...........

Price/performance basis, and to get a somewhat different sound from Korg/Roland, and if you want to support an American company ;), check out the Alesis QS-R.

Emu Proteus anyone?

yup! ... and the new yamaha AWM2 modules... can't remember their name....
if you want something other than rom sounds you should consider looking at a V/A synth like laj35 suggested...

I see theres many choices, but I should give you all the info on the sound Im trying to achieve. Im going for an Andre Young steez, thats Dr Dre. Some west coast California, "gangster" rap sound.

If you've checked out Dr Dres "Chronic 2001", Or Eminems "The Eminem Show". Thats what Im aiming for, I know its a long shot but Im not a quitter.

So, keep them ideas coming! (thanks!)

I saw a few people mention the Triton Rack. Is the rack version better then the keyboard version?
Whats the difference?

I'm in the market for one...

Thanks,
Anthony

If you've already got a keyboard controller, go for the rack. You can add up to 8 expansion boards (compared to 2 for the full synths) plus the moss option to give you years of sounds to play with. I've got a rack full of gear, but my triton (5 cards installed) , proteus 2000 (w/mo'phatt expansion card) and mpc make most of my music happen. I just can't leave them alone. Try them out in GC for an hour. You'll be there for four or more.

Peace

While in the general area

I have a karma and I am going to purchase an expansion board. Does anyone have experience with the various choices that cold share some insight? this would be greatly appreciated. And, in nswer to the foregoing question, in addition to the karma I have been using an Access Virus b and a Waldorf Micro Q and both get a pretty good workout. They are very nice insturments and together with the Korg, I am never at a loss for sounds.
