I am looking for if not the best, one of the best sound cards to get to make beats on the PC. Give me some makes, models and why if you do not mind. Thank you for your help.

SB live?

You r right,
As I just found out, SB Live is not 24 bit compatable. Therefore you will only be able to get medium to low digital quality recordings from it. I just ordered a Delta 66 which I plan on running with my SB Live. What recording or sequencing program are you planning on running? You also should take your Processor speed and system configuration into account before you make a purchase.

i am going to be running on a dual 1.4Ghz Athlon 266FSB with 1.5GB of memory and a 60GB HD (this HD is devoted only to music). I have about a 1000 to spend and need to know good quality ones.

if you're doing midi, the soundblaster is usable...however, the main issue is how the akai thing fits into this.....are you interested in getting wav files from the akai, like record it, or just transfer midi, or use as a midi controller? the MPC is cool, but if it isn't a necessity, you'll probably only want to be able to transfer what you have stored in it , if you are going to a pc solution...

for software , BATTERY is pretty cool for beats. though as a DXi in SONAR it's a bit buggy.

good luck!
