I got a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 platinum and people keep tellin me to get a different card. Cause mine ain't meant 4 recording. I had a person tell me to get a Echo Layla or somethin, can't remember. that was about 4 months ago i think. But i just wanna know if thats a good card, or are there any other ones, Around $200.

How many inputs do you need?
What all are you planing to record?
Any real instruments?
If all you need to record is one or two tracks at a time, like for vocals or something .... just get an Audiophile 2496.
That leaves you with about a hundred bucks left to go toward a mic or a preamp.

ummm

well. i have a rode NT1a mic and a Focusrite voicemaster pro already, along with the Sb audigy 2 platinum, So i really just need a soundcard, I rap, so all i need to record is vocals, so go wit the Audiophile? is that gonna give me good recording? i was readin on the Emu 1212M 24-Bit/192kHz, says it has effects built in. Does anyone know about this card, Are the audiophile and Emu card really the same except 4 the effects, IF so, ill just get the audiophile. unless someone knows a betta card. I wanna order one 2moro, so please let me know

From what I've heard the Emu 1212 is a sweet card, and the built-in effects are a bonus. Word is ... the converters on the Emu are quite good.
Any rate, either of those cards are capable of quality audio provided they are sent quality material.
That's up to the one behind the wheel. Or mic.
