Hey Guys,

I am interested in buying a new printer to help with the preliminary pressings of a new CD cover. I will also need to be printing 8x10 glossies and doing a print news letter. I am looking for the best PRINTER. I don
t want a FAX, XEROX, CD PLAYER, CD BURNER, VACCUM CLEANER, all in one $10,000 printer. I am lookig for a consumer targeted HIGH quality printer. Around $400-$500 max. Any suggestions. I am a computer accessory RETARD to so please excuse the ignorance. Any suggestions???

Epson makes some good color printers, I use the Photo 750 at work (approx. $250 US) and it's incredible. The newer models can use archival inks, which last much longer. Using Ilford Photo Paper you can get near-photographic results. (I know, cause I'm a photographer!) Good luck with the CD!

If you have $400 to $500 to spend, you should look at Laser printers. Epson or Hewlett Packard have the best quality (in that order). Go to a store and check them out - usually they will let you print stuff at Best Buy and Circuit City. And then when you are ready to buy go to www.mwave.com. You should get the best price there.

Xerox.com has a deal where they'll give you a free printer worth about $3500 if you go with some kind of maintainance plan which is around $100/month. Might be worth looking into.
