i really like the Alesis M-1s...you can get them cheap now too since Alesis is in the trouble.
pretty much all of the stuff isnt that bad, justlet your ears be the final judge..
one set i DIDNT like though, Behringer Truth-B's....they sound like Hi-Fi speakers to me...

look for real reviews on anything you buy listen to many pairs before you buy if your smart you will stick the cash away and get some mackie hr824,s i did this and have been more then pleased sure they cost me 1000usd thats double what you want to spend but it beats selling them when your mixes dont come out right anyway just my opionion anyway.

there are lots of great bargains out there but one has to think a little more long term then just the short term bargain because short term solutions today dont always serve you well into the future
I love the hr824,s and thats only my opionion i listened to all else first in the same sitting with the same piece of music then heard the mackies i am sure if you do the same you may come out with a more balanced view then
the mackies cost more but i,ll tell you i was happy spending for what i got i picked these up in australia for 2000 aus or 1000 usd i was more then happy to pay that as i got these under us prices and i got them in australia what a bonus let your ears tell you the truth the save those bills and be forever pleased with what you then achieve
