Lots of yelling vocals are going to force fed into the next preamp I buy. Nothing too colored.. Nice power that I can scream into and not flood the tubes..... Im looking at a RNP...... Many have also brought up the Aphex 207 as a close pick as well...

Music rap... Medium voices to deep voices. Lots of loud levels...

Any proven combos that you know of?

Just be sure to get something with plenty of headroom. :D And a -10db or even -20db pad would be nice.

I'd go for something with a fairly "neutral" sound, like a Grace or Earthworks. The C4000B has enough character by itself.

Neutral sound... So nothing with noticable coloration or saturation will compliment this mic well.....

The pres I have seem to add a warmth that I think mudds up the highs.... Earthworks... Ill have to look into that idea...

Thanks

Headroom? Boy do I got something for you with headroom!

:o Pads? We don't need no stickin' pads!

DaviSound TB-6 or FMR Audio RNP... Headroom for days... Brought to you with no pads... Pads not included... No pads needed!

:D

Oh, did I mention the "lack thereof 'sound'" gain; at least for the DaviSound, as I've yet to use the RNP (but engineers whose ears I trust are reporting "great neutral preamp" type of things).

I think im moving that direction...

Sounds like the RNP is coming my way... They're Compressors are dirt cheap too!!

So AKG C4000B to RNP, to C-Port 2000 in to Sonar or Cubase SX...

Not bad...
